A Letter to My Daughter- Mother’s Day Edition

Hey hey sweetie pies! Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! A few years ago I did a letter to my mom. (https://sostormie.com/2017/05/13/thank-you-ma-open-letter-to-my-mom-mothers-day-edition-2017/) This being my first mother’s day, I figured it was only right to write a letter to my daughter.

Currently it’s 2:48 am. The sounds of the cartoon Cyberchase fill the room as I’m rocking you. Hoping that you find rest soon because you’ve been cranky due to your teething gums. Reality is I’m exhausted from a long day of breastfeeding, cooking, washing clothes, changing diapers, changing urine soiled bedsheets with of course a few kisses and snuggles sandwiched in between. But right now all I feel is peace and happiness watching you sleep.

It’s officially Mother’s day and I knew that I would eventually write this letter to you. However now seems like the perfect time. There’s so much I want to tell you and I pray I find the words as I go.

First I thank you. I thank God for giving me you – for giving me the most amazing daughter ever. I thank you for making me a mother and choosing me. I truly believe that you visited me in a dream. So I knew you in my heart of hearts before I actually met you. Let me just say you exceeded all of my wildest dreams. Thank you for making me the woman that I am today. Thank you for teaching me to be empathetic, selfless, patient, resilient, unconditional love and the importance of life.

I love you so much my precious angel. I know your father loves you but just know no one will love you like I do. I never used to understand but I completely get it now. I never want to go a day without you in my life. Your smile is the most beautiful thing I see daily and your voice is the sweetest thing I hear. I cry tears of joy writing this because I can’t believe that I’m so lucky to be your mother.

I know I worry if I am doing a good enough job as your mother. Time and time again you show me that I am indeed capable and that you have the upmost confidence in me. Thank you for believing in me.

I pray so much for you my sweet Tudda. I pray that you love honestly and fearlessly but use your heart wisely. Use your mind occasionally (because sometimes we can have cloudy judgment) and your intuition indefinitely. Your ancestors as well as your parents will always be on your side- looking out and interceding when necessary. I pray that you believe in your power because you’re just that – POWERFUL. Powerful in your entire being – mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. I pray that you keep God first and live a joyful, fulfilling life. I pray that when I no longer carry you that you’ll not only fly but soar because of things that I’ve taught you. I want you to know of this world, prepare for it but not be OF it. I pray that you keep that zeal for life – always questioning and going beyond the norm. And always believe in your magic Amara, because you are truly that – MAGICAL.

I love you so much my sweet snoockums. As I give you a kiss on your forehead, I want to promise you a few things.

I promise to always love you. I promise that if and when I mess up – I will do my best to fix my wrongs. I promise to always be there. I promise to be your biggest fan. I promise to do everything I can to take care of you until my last breath.

I love you my sweet Amara. Thank you for making me the luckiest mom ever. Love Mommy. ❤
