I am a firm believer in adding to yourself and your personal set of skills. In this day and age, it is almost imperative that you possess multiple skill sets as it better prepares you for the working world. In the working world, some of the most successful people are those who are multi-talented or multifaceted. While most feel like they are only good at 1-3 things at best, you can become an expert in any field. Individuals are creating new things every single day. New blogs, new podcasts, new brands, new businesses – all while at least a fraction of those creators may not have had all the answers before starting. To the realists out there, this seems quite far fetched because ideally we like to know all the information that there’s to know before starting. Believe it or not, you may be closer to starting or creating something new and not even know it! Whether you are looking to better yourself or want to become an entrepreneur, adding to your personal value is essential! Investing in yourself is inevitable if you want to advance in a certain area. Adding to your personal value equates to you being able to charge more for services/products that you may provide. Perhaps adding to your personal value can be the final item on the to do list before launching a new product! There are a number of easy ways to get started to bettering yourself as well as your resume’. Check out these 4 easy ways to increase your personal value.
Exercise
While some see this as just superficial benefits, there are many other ways that you can benefit from working out. Regular exercise has been shown to increase your energy levels, boost your metabolism and improve your focus. With those increased energy levels, you can now take on maybe another project or take that time learning something new! Plus when you feel good, you look good and in turn builds your confidence. Renewed self confidence can be just the “mojo” that you need to pursue that passion project or to finally apply for that position. With the world and all the news about it available at our fingertips, we have developed a shorter attention span so improved focus is a plus.
Digital Content Creators
The internet is a wonderful source for all kinds of information regarding pretty much anything. Digital content creators such as YouTubers, bloggers, podcast hosts and other influencers can be a great source of information. These days there is pretty much a blog for any niche. There are blogs out there for any and every topic out there – food, fashion, pop culture, art, lifestyle and even blogging! With the current state of technology, a lot of information is right at our fingertips for free! Often times, bloggers offer free printables or downloads just for subscribing to their site! There is so much free information out there. Why not learn a thing or two to add to your resume’!
Read
This one may come off as a no brainer but seriously nothing beats picking up a book. Books are a great resource of countless information. I occasionally go to the bookstore or library and pick up some books to read inside. Plus if you buy the books they can be a great investment to that future business or passion project. Not to mention it is easier to retain information that you read in a book than it is reading on the internet as you are constantly taking in information online.
Mentor
A mentor can be a source of wisdom, intelligence, knowledge and experience. When selecting a mentor, make sure to choose someone who is in your field and someone that you revere. Your mentor is great for helping fill in the blanks and give sound advice before taking a big step. Mentors can help you find the silver lining when you think all hope is gone. Not to mention, mentors can make a great accountability partner. They can keep you motivated and on task. A mentor will also be able to provide advice about life in general because more than likely they have already been through similar situations themselves. Having a mentor can be the key factor that elevates you and your brand.
