Dance Resolutions 2017

“Simplicity is natures first step, and the last of art.” ~ Philip James Bailey
Hey sweetie pies! Happy Friday! I hope the first week of 2017 was good to you! I wanted to share some of my dance resolutions for this year. 2016 became the year that I got back to pursuing my dreams and working on my craft. After doing my burlesque show as well as many auditions, I definitely want to dedicate more time to dance this year. With that being said, I definitely have a few resolutions for dance going into 2017 that I totally want to share!

1. Improve my Flexibility
Having not danced in a LONG time, my flexibility (or lack thereof) reflects that. I definitely want to improve and strengthen my turnout. I also want to be able to master my tilt and splits in second so yeah I got to start stretching on a regular basis.

2. Work on my Improvisation Skills
When I go on auditions, I am ALWAYS asked to do improv. In college, I studied and practiced improv as part of my study in dance. But dance is definitely a craft that you have to continuously practice and work on. I want to be able to move freely without mental distractions.

3. Take more Classes
The best way to hone my skills and improve my dance vocabulary is by taking classes. I definitely hope to take as many classes as possible from multiple teachers. I firmly believe the more people you can correctly learn from, the better.

4. Strengthen my Core.
This kind of leads on to fitness goals but having a strong core is SOOO important when it comes to dance. It helps you find your center and improves a number of things from turns to leaps.

5. Don’t be afraid to put myself out there.
Whether that is auditions or dance videos, I am definitely going to be more fearless at putting myself out there. The best thing that you can do for yourself when it comes to your goals is just to start. It is also the hardest part but definitely worth it.

Write down your resolutions and then list what actions you need to take to achieve those resolutions. I can’t wait to hear about them!
As always, XO and Stay FAB! ~ Stormie J
