Hey sweetie pies, I hope you all are having a great week so far. I think it is safe to say that dorm rooms are naturally pretty….um… dull. And the fact that you have to spend the next 3-4 months there can totally kill your vibe. But believe it or not, even with a space that is so small that it causes claustrophobia, you can make dorm room the coolest and boldest!
In my opinion, your dorm room is your home away from home. It is your safe haven. Your dorm room should be comfortable, fun, and a reflection of you. Even though I was always busy while I was in college so I was barely in my dorm – I made sure to decorate my dorm and have fun with it!!
I want to share some cool ways to decorate your dorm room and make it yours! Now because of certain guidelines at your college, you may or may not be able to integrate all of these into yours but no worries! There is something here for everybody!
Stationary – You will have to have your planner, notebooks, pens and other school supplies around, why not use them as display on your desk? You may be pleasantly surprised at how motivated you are to do your work!
String Lights – For a whimsical chilled vibe, string these lights around your headboard at night!
Desk Chair – If you can, swap out that hard hideous desk chair for a plush, modern one. If you are going to be pulling all nighters at the desk you may as well be comfortable!
Wall decals – You can find these everywhere from Dollar Tree to Target to Etsy. They are peel and stick and make for easy removal when it is time for Christmas Break.
Wallpaper– Now this may not be allowed at your school. But you can opt for an easy peel and stick wallpaper and do a cool accent wall. One with a cool pattern such as this fake brick will definitely be a conversation starter with all of your friends!
Pillowcase – How cute is this quirky pillowcase and it is less than $15!
Graphic Pillow – These are great to put in your office chair to support your back, especially if you can’t swap out your desk chairs. Have a sofa? Throw one or two on there – instant chic!
Rugs– A graphic rug in fun colors can amp up a room easily and is totally inexpensive!
Shelves– Need more space to put things but no more room? Opt for shelves like these to place important things or decor!
Plush Blanket – This is great to have as a spread on your bed for when people come over and sit on your bed. (and trust, they will) So that way everyone won’t be sitting on your bedding that you sleep on!
Faux Plant – Real plants and flowers are beautiful but let’s get real… You won’t have the time to tend to any plants! They add a cool natural element without all the maintenance!
