How to Improve your Sleep + Become a Morning Person!

Hey sweetie pies! 2017 is here and in full swing! How are everyone’s resolutions/goals going? I hope you guys are kicking butts and taking names! 🙂 I have told you guys about a few of my resolutions for the new year. One resolution that I have yet to share is about my wellness and just how I plan on taking better care of myself. I mean this in a number of ways – from watching my coffee intake (I literally feel like I am dying because I am disciplining myself by not getting my usual 2nd cup of joe at the moment) to getting a better quality of sleep every night.
A busy-bee like myself can struggle to get a good night’s rest, let alone the proper amount of hours. Regardless of how I sleep, I always wake up pretty easily because I am a morning person. I know and understand that this isn’t the same for everyone else. With this sleep resolution, I am tackling this head on with a few tips that I figured that I would share with you all! So continue reading if you want to know my tips on how to get more sleep at night/become a morning person!
Tips on Getting a Better Quality of Sleep
1. Try to set a bedtime and stick to it!
You have to get your body used to a routine that you can follow.
2. Try Aromatherapy
I have a lavender and eucalyptus candle that I love to light for 30 minutes before I go to bed. (Just make sure to blow it out before bed!) My fave is Be Peaceful Candle that is available at Target. I also opt for a little lavender Essential Oil. I usually apply a little on my temples, wrists and behind my ears.
3. Cooling Gel Eye Mask
This aids to remove any puffiness around the eyes, plus it fees good! This is definitely relaxing for me and helps me to unwind after a long day.
4. Drink Tea
I enjoy drinking a cup of tea while I burn my candle and sit with my eye mask. Do I look silly? You bet but it is relaxing! I personally enjoy Earl Grey Tea or Chai Tea.
5. Sleep Mask
I have to HAVE TO sleep with my sleep mask. I use mine to help channel out all the stimuli, plus it keeps me from wanting to check social media all night! I always sleep so much better and soundly when I wear my sleeping mask.
Tips on Becoming a Morning Person
1. Give yourself something to look forward to!
For me that’s a cute outfit or wearing a new pair of shoes. Whatever it is, no matter the size, let that motivate you to get out of that bed!
2. Don’t hit the snooze button!
This is definitely my weakness. I would even suggest to set your alarm somewhere far so that it requires you to get out of the bed!
3. Make your bed
If you make your bed as soon as you get up, you are less likely to get back in it. Plus it is nice to come home to neatly made bed.
4. Drink water.
I try to have a glass of water every morning. It definitely aids in bodily functions and is a great way to start your day!
5. Get Active
For some people that is working out, while others it’s meditating. Whatever it is that gets you going and ready to take on the day, do that! Plus it can affect your mood greatly!
