Reflecting on 2016

“I have no fear of making changes, destroying the image, etc., because the painting has a life of its own.” ~ Jackson Pollock
Hey sweetie pies! How crazy is it that 2016 is almost over?! It is almost impossible to wrap my head around! Thinking back over this year and all the craziness and many blessings, I am so grateful! So much has taken place over this year, I figured that I would dedicate a post to it as well as my hopes for the future! Also, I rounded up some pics from this year, leave me a comment below sharing which photo is your fave!
1. So Fabulously Sweet turned 2 this year!
What started off as a hobby has now become a passion with hopes of transitioning into a business! I am so happy that blogging is something that I have decided to stick with plus I am excited for what is to come.
2. I started dancing again!
After not dancing really for about 2 years, I dived head first into dancing again. From masterclasses to workshops I have been working on my craft again and it feels amazing! I have been going on auditions again and just getting back into the swing of things is pretty cool to me.
3. I danced in my first professional gig!
I was so so elated to perform in my first professional gig. I performed in a burlesque show earlier this year and you sweetie pies may remember when I did a whole blog post awhile back. Performing felt so amazing and being a part of something so different as a burlesque show made me feel really strong. I felt like I could do ANYTHING that I put my mind to. It was a liberating feeling – and that was something I desperately needed at the time.
4. I wrote my first fashion article ever and got it published in a magazine!
You heard your girl right! I wrote a fashion article for a new and upcoming Houston-based magazine Young Black Professionals magazine. Now before you hit the snooze button on me, this magazine features some of everything from politics and religion to fashion and pop culture. If Vogue, Time and Ebony magazines had a baby, you would have YBP Magazine hahaha! The way that I got involved with this was that I joined what was formerly just a MeetUp group that has grown into so much. The opportunity came up for us to do our own magazine. When the organizer requested for a fashion blogger to write, you know your girl threw her hand up! After discussing ideas and getting to know one another, the organizer and I agreed on an idea and the rest is history!

5. I became the fashion reporter for YBP Magazine!
Upon meeting and talking with the editor of the magazine, she expressed that she wanted people to do reporting for different things. Of course, I volunteered to cover all things fashion and she said yes! So now, I post to our fb page every Friday and cover all things fashion for the magazine! I also get the opportunities to go to fashion shows and such that is really exciting!

6. I got to work with professional photographers.
I have had the luxury to work with different photographers and network with photographers here in Houston. It is pretty exciting!

7. I have met some pretty amazing people!
I am so blessed to say that I have met people through different walks of life. I have met dancers, bloggers, other creatives and just beautiful spirits that I have really connected with. I am so happy to say that I have met people that I now see as friends with beautiful kind hearts. I firmly believe that is because I have been trying to put those vibes out into the universe so I am getting that in return.

8. I finally bought my own domain for the blog!
I don’t know if you sweetie pies noticed, but I bought my domain a couple of months ago. So it is no long sofabulouslyweet.blogspot.com but now sofabu
louslysweet.com. Now to most people that isn’t a big deal to them but it is SOOO nice to no longer have to look at the ‘blogspot’ anymore. (I am sure fellow bloggers will understand)

9. God blessed me with another year of life.
I turned the big 25 this year and got to celebrate my birthday with some of my closest friends.

10. I began the journey to true self-love.
I briefly talked about this in my burlesque review post so feel free to go check that out if you haven’t already. But I have struggled for awhile now with my body and not feeling worthy enough or beautiful enough. But I REFUSE to bring that kind of mindset into the new year. Negative talk like that has NO ROOM in this journey that I am on. I am beginning to love myself truly and it is making such a difference in my overall mood and my relationships with other people.

11. I started back working on my overall health – physical, psychological and spiritual.
Even though I struggle with maintaining a consistent schedule, I try to work out as much as I can. Whether that is dance, running, walking or yoga, I try to do something that my body will thank me for. I have gotten back to meditating on a regular basis and doing my daily devotions. I want to make sure that I am getting the Word on a regular basis.

I feel like I have changed and grown so much this year and I loved having you along on this journey. I hope to be able to share more, be more, DO more. I hope that I can continue to inspire all those who read So Fabulously Sweet as well as push myself to new limits. I am continuing on this journey called life and pursuing my dreams. I am trying to make a life that I love and to just simply MAKE IT. To every person that reads this blog, that supports me in any shape, form or fashion – I love you and I thank you. All of your support keeps me going. Because trust and believe, there has been a time or another where I truly felt like giving up. Then I would remember why I am doing all of this and that I am not doing it just for myself, but all of you who believe in me.

It is so easy to get consumed in the negative things in the world. Now while I am not saying to turn a blind eye to everything, I am saying turn a blind eye to all the unnecessary bs. Positive vibes and let’s start looking out for one another and spread love. Now let’s kick some boo-tay in 2017!!!
I love you all!

As always, XO and Stay FAB! ~ Stormie J
